Where have I been?

Wow, it's been a while.... Not surprising though since time on the computer is a fairly precious commodity these days.  As is anything that is time alone I guess.

I've been working on a bunch of things,  and will be moving the craft / life blogging to a different site.  It isn't completely set up yet, so I will link here when it is.  My first adventure with this new venture is happening this weekend.  I'm not ready yet, and probably won't be until minutes before, but what else is new?  The story will be the first post on the new blog.

I thought all mommies were supposed to be nice to other mommies...

I had this whole ranting story ready to go,  and have thought better of it.  Suffice to say I encountered a not-so-nice woman in the parking lot of Babies R Us yesterday and she was very rude.  I am doing my best to not let it get to me and instead of dwelling on the bad experience I'm going to turn to more positive energy.

And with that, I'm going to try to take a nap while the baby is sleeping.  There's tons of positive energy in napping!

Artist and Mother - Thank You, Keri Smith

I had some time this morning to wander the internet like I used to in my life "before baby."  He's napping (woohoo!), though I can't be sure exactly how long I have.

In my wanderings this morning, I came across this post on Keri Smith's blog that has beautifully articulated so much of what I have been feeling in the past few months.  Please take the time to read it - I'm sure it reflects the feelings of so many mothers in general, and especially those who are artists, aspire to be artists, or (like me) are trying to bring art and creativity back into their lives.

I'm back!

Whew, Mommy-hood has definitely taken over my life!  But we're slowly getting back into the swing of things and I return to teaching tonight.  Wish E luck - it's his first night with the baby by himself for a few hours!  I'm sure he'll do great.  Especially now that little Mr. Man has been on his reflux medicine for a couple days, he's a much happier little man.

So all that said,  I actually have a few projects in mind, as well as the beginnings of my photography retouching portfolio in the works.  Now if only nap time will last long enough to get anything done.  It seems any hope of a long nap starts with a car ride.  (That's how I'm actually able to be on the computer at the moment!)  In the very near future there will be posts of paintings and photo "retouchings" - I promise!

Copyright Law - Important to Anyone Who Posts Pictures on the Internet

This is pretty disturbing, and I urge everyone who reads this to click on the links in this post.

There is a new copyright bill going up for becoming law that will basically give rights to anyone to use any image posted on the internet as free domain. There is a very informational blog post about that here on Claudine Hellmuth's blog. There are links in this post to help you generate letters to congress. It's very easy and you can just send a "form letter" or there are options to change and edit what is there.

Tim Holz also linked to this post on his blog here.

I think the whole blogging world should be aware of this - really the whole world in general. Anyone who posts any type of image on the internet, be it family photos or artwork or scrapbook pages or any sort of doodle.

I went to the link to write the letters to my congress representatives and it really was very easy. Please take a minute to check this out and protect yourself and your artwork / family photos.
