Painting Continues and Furniture Arrives!

I spent all of yesterday afternoon and well into the night painting the baby's room. Unfortunately it still isn't completely done, but it's definitely well on its way! Toward the end I was having a fairly hard time getting up and down the step stool mainly because of my back. I'm a little sore today, but nowhere near what I was expecting.

Here is Jett surveying the painting progress at the end of the night.  It was the only time the door was left open - the cats want to "help" too much to be allowed in during the actual painting process.  You can see the very top edge at the ceiling is all that is left to finish.  Two and three quarter walls are left with ceiling edging to be done.

Here is the corner that is completely done.  Well, I say completely done but the area at the top of the walls, probably about one foot, needs an additional coat.  I was hoping to get away with just one up there, but it isn't going to do.

So last night E and I agreed that it wouldn't be the end of the world for the furniture to arrive and some painting still left to be done.  I was really pushing to get it done, but there was really no way.  Plus now I'm thinking of changing my initial border idea.  Here's the plan as it stands now:  instead of putting up the full border along the line between the green and the blue I'm going to cut out the animal shapes from the border and attach them like "Wallies" along the line.  But I'm not 100% happy with the line itself so I found a nice pale blue that goes well with the two colors and I'm going to paint a line, about 2" wide, between the two and cover up the initial line.  The animal shapes will be attached over that pale blue line so they have something that anchors them.  If it comes out as well as it looks in my head, I'll be very pleased.

I was planning on spending all day at home today, waiting for the delivery guys with the furniture.  Well, I am happy to report that the delivery guys arrived at 9am and were done setting the furniture up and assembling the crib by 10am!  So I ran out and met E for lunch, picked up the pale blue paint and a few other painting supplies I needed and came back home.  This afternoon is "office time,"  before I have to head to Michaels to teach - only four classes left!

So here is the dresser,  close to its final spot.  E is going to move the furniture to the center of the room tonight so I can work on the painting tomorrow.  I think if I focus tomorrow I can definitely finish the ceiling edge and get the pale blue line at least taped if not painted.  I was testing to see how the changing pad would work on top of the dresser, so that's the plastic wrapped piece on top.  I do want to change out the knobs, but I haven't decided on those just yet.  But that's easy - probably the easiest part of this whole process!

And here is the crib.  I'm 99% sure this is where it is going to stay, depending on the placement of the glider.  But I'm pretty sure the glider is going in front of the window.  We're also going to need some smaller end tables of some sort, but that's also easy.  I'm very excited about this crib.  It's a "Lifetime" crib or something like that, so it changes into a toddler/day bed and then becomes a full size bed.

So that's the progress as of today!  Not bad I'd say, especially with three weeks left.  I still think I can get everything done by the beginning of next week so I can start washing clothes and putting things away.
