The Walls Are Finished!!!

I finished the walls in the baby's room today!  A lot earlier in the day than I expected, too.  It wasn't quite the project I was expecting it to be, although I did have a problem at first.  I started off by dipping one piece in water and trying to attach it to the wall.  Because it was prepasted border I thought it would work.  But because we used semi-gloss paint (to make it easier to clean) the paste wasn't holding enough on the edges and was peeling within minutes.  I was wracking my brain to think of what kind of scrapbooking adhesive I had in the basement that might work, lol.  Luckily E came home for lunch right when I was trying to think of something and he suggested a glue stick.  Well that little glue stick was the best thing ever!  It went very quickly after that. And yes, I owe it all to E!  I did end up having to cut out more pieces but even that went fast.  I cut out ten sets of the five characters last night and another 7 sets today to finish up.  I still have a lot of border left,  I'm thinking of using it for some wall hangings / paintings for the room.  But enough chatter - check out the pictures!  If you click on each picture you should get a larger version so you can see a bit more detail.

Here is the full border on its own, before being cut.

Here is a close-up of one of the wall areas - basically I cut out the blue and green starfish, the two different turtles, and the sand dollar and adhered them each as a separate piece, over the light blue line I painted in last week.

Here is a corner shot of the full wall.

A door picture.  This one is really close to the actual colors of the room (thanks, Photoshop!).

Another corner shot - the opposite corner from the other picture.

A close up corner shot - E seemed somewhat impressed that I put the turtles in the corners.  I figured it would look more continuous that way and keep the flow.

Here's the corner next to the closet with another turtle in the corner, though the corner edge it a little hard to see in this one.

So it's all done!  And just in time for E's day off tomorrow to put the furniture into place and get everything set up and/or put away.  I'm so excited that it's done.  I love the way the border came out and I really think it finishes off the room.  I was considering painting the outlet and switch covers, but the more I thought about it the more I like them as plan white to go with the trim and the furniture.

In related news, the swing we ordered (with a gift card we received) arrived today.  So, we now have everything I feel is essential for the arrival of the baby, short of the crib mattress.  But since we will be using a portable crib in our room for a few weeks the mattress isn't super urgent.  We should also be moving the rocker in this weekend.  But I think after tomorrow's work in the room I'll be much more mentally settled and prepared.  Hey just after today's progress I'm feeling a billion times better!

Now to get working on a few other projects... when does that nesting thing kick in?  I could really use that right now, lol.
